The Arete Scholars Fund—a registered Student Scholarship Organization (SSO) in Georgia that provides K4–12 scholarships to economically challenged families—is accepting scholarship applications for the 2011–12 school year through its new online system.

An initiative of the Georgia Tuition Credit Scholarship Program (HB 1133), the Arete Scholars Fund partners primarily with corporations to fund tax credit scholarships along with private charitable foundations to serve families that otherwise would have no educational choice.

Low-income children, depending on household income, are eligible to receive a scholarship up to $5,800 to any accredited K4 – 12 private school in Georgia.

All children have unique learning needs, and the ones who live at the poverty line have the fewest choices when it comes to educational options. Arete assists public education in helping the children who face the greatest obstacles to academic achievement.

“Through the contributions of partnering corporations, Arete operates on the belief that educational opportunity should not be limited by district lines, household income, and home values,” said Executive Director Derek Monjure. “We hold to principles of parental empowerment and a desire to see our most underprivileged students perform at their highest potential.”

You can complete the online scholarship application for the 2011-12 school year at aretescholars.org.
