TWIGGS COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — Twiggs County Family Connection hosted its annual health fair to help the community stay on top of their healthcare needs on Thursday.
The event was held in the Jeffersonville Elementary School gym and featured over 20 partners who provided healthcare resources to the community.
This year, an organization called “Mothers and Others” donated 100 air purifiers for attendees to take home.
Lea Toney, Director of Twiggs County Family Connection, says it was about getting people to focus on their health.
“It is very important because we need to take care of our health,” Toney said. “Since COVID, we have had a lot of residents who have not been back to their doctors, so there are a lot of illnesses and some diagnoses that they are getting that could have been handled prior if they kept up with their doctor’s appointments. We’re doing blood pressure screenings, glucose, so that we can let them know where they stand and encourage them to go to the doctor.”
