The Athens Area Community Foundation is accepting grant applicants for the Resilient Northeast Georgia fund, according to a press release. Applications for the 2025 cycle are open through the end of June.

Founded in 2008, AACF is a public grantmaking foundation that partners with donors, nonprofits and community institutions with the aim of improving the quality of life in the Athens area. The organization has awarded more than $34 million in grants since its founding.

Resilient Northeast Georgia, a part of the greater Resilient Georgia, is a collaboration of 12 counties working to increase awareness and prevention of trauma in children and families. Working in partnership with Georgia Family Connection, the coalition aims to provide training, resources and opportunities to build a more adaptive behavioral health system of care with partners and service providers in the region.

The counties in the region include Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Jasper, Madison, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe and Walton counties.

“Every community has their own challenges and their own strengths, and they are uniquely positioned to meet needs right where they live,” President and CEO of the AACF Sarah McKinney, said. “Since 2019, our work with Resilient Northeast Georgia has been about coalition building, but it needs to be sustainable, and we want to equip those in the coalition to create meaningful programs in their own communities.”

The grant is designed to provide funding for organizations working to prevent adverse childhood experiences for children and families and increase trauma-informed awareness. 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, schools, churches or government entities in the 12-county region are eligible to apply.

Applicants must submit a 6-month progress report and 12-month impact report of their work if awarded funding. The AACF Board of Directors will review the applications and announce awards in mid-September.
