Dawson County Family Connection is once again hosting its annual Reverse Advent Calendar this month, encouraging the community to give back and help those in need during the holiday season.
Each year, Family Connection’s Reverse Advent Calendar gives the community the opportunity to donate much-needed items to those in need all throughout the month of December. One specific need is listed for each day of December, and community members are encouraged to donate as few or as many of the items as they want to.
“With other advent calendars, you get a treat for yourself every day,” Family Connection’s event flyer said. “Our advent calendar helps meet a need for someone else every day.”
This year’s calendar includes 24 different items to help those in need as the weather gets colder, including sleeping bags, hand warmers, gift cards, and warm clothing, like coats, hats, and gloves. All items collected will be distributed to Dawson County people in need through local resource agencies.
Those who are interested in participating in this year’s reverse advent calendar can drop off items at the Family Connection office, purchase them directly off of the Family Connection Amazon wishlist or Walmart wishlist or start a collection at any local office or church. Monetary contributions are also accepted and are tax-deductible.
Items purchased from the Amazon or Walmart wishlist will be delivered directly to the Family Connection office. To purchase items from Walmart, go to bit.ly/4fAeEs9.
The Family Connection office is located at Medical Center Dr. Suite 101, and the delivery address is 452 Highway 53 East #872, Dawsonville, Georgia, 30534. For questions about the Reverse Advent Calendar, call Dawson County Family Connection at 706-265-1981.
