Emanuel County Family Connection Co-hosts Family Literacy Night

On Oct. 24, Emanuel County Family Connection co-hosted the Family Literacy Night at Swainsboro Elementary School. The theme was “Halloween Escape the School.” Families were invited to attend this fun event where they were served homemade soup prepared by the teachers and then participated in the escape room activity.

Each grade read the History of Halloween and The Salem Witch Trials. Then the families had to answer riddles and do literacy activities to discover the code that allowed them to escape. If they escaped the room, they then unlocked a spooky chest that opened to reward them with a new book. Family Connection would like to thank the Mill Creek Foundation for funding these books.

Another big event of the night was the door prize drawings. Partner East Georgia HealthCare donated fantastic sports equipment prizes for the drawing, with the grand prize being a basketball goal. Other prizes were soccer balls, flag football sets and a football. Prizes included books, t-shirts, fall decor, mugs, and other sports equipment.

The attendance was exceptional, and it was an outstanding family engagement event.
