Crash scene

The warm spring weather may not have reached all of Georgia, but spring break, prom and graduation season begins tonight. The atmosphere of laughter and celebration can shift to horror and grief in the blink of an eye if our teens choose to drink and drive, or text from behind the wheel.

The Grady County Children and Youth Coordinating Council wants students at Cairo High School to see for themselves how their bad choices from behind the wheel can hurt or kill their friends or other innocent victims. The Collaborative is doing that by sharing a couple of mock crash videos that aired on their local news stations.

Nola Daughtry, executive director of the Collaborative, said the people of Grady County are working hard to reclaim the pride of their community—their kids.

Grady County’s lesson is one that high-school juniors and seniors across the state can learn. Like the Grady County Collaborative, we must come together so this season will pass as one only of laughter and celebration for our kids. Please share these videos with the parents and high-schoolers in your community.
