The legislative session is underway and lawmakers are already discussing issues that will have an impact on children and families at home, at school, in the doctor’s office, on the road, and even on our lakes.

We’ll keep you in the loop about what’s going on at the Capitol through our weekly bulletin, Connected to Public Policy, and by sharing news from our partners who are working to improve conditions for Georgia’s youngest and most vulnerable citizens.

Juvenile Justice Reform and an extension of the existing Hospital Provider Fee are among this year’s hot issues. Check out this week’s Connected to Public Policy for highlights from Gov. Deal’s State-of-the-State address, as well as budget updates, and legislation that could determine the health of our children, their ability to succeed in school, and the capacity for families to become self-sufficient.

As always, be sure to let me know if you have questions about child and family policy issues and pending legislation.
