Penny Houston reads Pete the Cat to Cook County Pre-K

I was honored to have State Representative Penny Houston invite me to escort her on a tour of Cook County Pre-K on Oct. 4 to celebrate Georgia Pre-K Week. Penny visited students in each of the nine classrooms and the special needs classroom, then read Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes to a group of students. She spent two hours touring the facility, visiting with students and teachers, and listening to the children share stories and songs with her.

Pre-K Director Becky Ratts, a Cook County Family Connection Board member, has been exceptional in her work directing and supervising the Cook County Pre-K program. The children, who were singing, dancing and working on projects in classrooms decorated with beautiful artwork, dropped everything to run and hug Miss Becky whenever she walked through the door.

We in Cook County appreciate Becky’s hard work and caring attitude in operating Cook County Pre-K, and Penny’s commitment to our children. They both do a great job working to make sure our kids are ready to start school.
