LONG COUNTY, Ga. — Long County Family Connection recently organized a donation drive to assist families affected by the devastating fires in Brantley County.

The organization collected essential items including clothing, bottled water, non-perishable food, toiletries, blankets, baby items, and cleaning supplies. Community members throughout Long County stepped up to contribute, filling donation boxes with much-needed items for those displaced by the fires. Community partners, Long County Public Library and Long County Fire Department, served as drop off locations. Ft. Stewart donated dog food and cat food.

Walthourville Meat Market donated water to the firemen as they were fighting the fire. Hinesville Fire Department collected items and Long County Family Connection arranged delivery to Brantley.

Volunteers spent several days collecting supplies before delivering them to Brantley County Family Connection Center. Organizers said the response from the community was overwhelming and demonstrated the strong spirit of neighbors helping neighbors during difficult times.

“We wanted families in Brantley County to know they are not alone,” says Long County Family Connection Coordinator Karen Swindell. “The support from our community has been incredible, and we are thankful for everyone who donated.”

The fires caused significant damage in parts of Brantley County, leaving many families in need of emergency assistance. Local organizations and volunteers across Southeast Georgia continue working together to provide relief and recovery support.

Long County Family Connection encouraged residents to continue supporting ongoing recovery efforts as affected families begin rebuilding their homes and lives.
