Approach
Connected
is a bimonthly electronic magazine ("e-zine") published by Family
Connection Partnership, Inc., of Atlanta, GA. Distributed via e-mail to
thousands of subscribers, Connected provides real-world solutions
to the complex challenges facing Georgia's children, families and communities.
Connected
features news and information on current initiatives, resources, tools
and upcoming events that support community collaboration, results accountability,
community-based decision making, family-centered approaches, and prevention-oriented
strategies. Connected also showcases community successes and promotes
"what works" using research and evaluation practices that have
proven to be effective in communities.
Connected
enhances public awareness of the issues facing Georgia's communities by:
- Communicating
- Disseminating information on the successes of community collaboration
that lead to improving the quality of life for Georgia's children and
families.
- Educating
- Informing communities of various initiatives and strategies throughout
the state.
- Informing
- Updating communities on available resources, and documenting and celebrating
community successes.
- Increasing
awareness - Providing summaries of cutting-edge research and evaluation
to support communities in developing strategies for their work, programs
and services.
- Influencing
- Affecting policymakers, decision makers, funders and partners in the
decisions that affect results being achieved in local communities.
Its diverse
audience includes:
- Family
Connection community collaboratives throughout Georgia
- Local
and state legislators, other elected officials and policy makers
- Governing
boards and leaders of local, state and national organizations and foundations
working in the arena of child well-being
- Leaders
in the business, civic and faith communities
- College
and university officials
- Area
media
Editorial
Guidelines
The Editorial
Team seeks articles that are relevant to its readers. Articles tend to
address the following five result areas:
1. Healthy
Children
2. Children Ready for School
3. Children Succeeding in School
4. Stable and Strong Families
5. Self-sufficient Families
These result
areas are based on the State of Georgia's results and benchmarks for children
and families. They also are a foundation for Family Connection Partnership's
work with RAND and our partners in California, Colorado and Missouri on
the Promising Practices
Network.
Input about
potential themes for issues, articles and authors is highly encouraged.
Content includes:

To ensure
that the Connected e-zine maintains editorial quality, the following
guidelines are provided for articles submitted for publication:
- Articles
should be submitted via
e-mail to communications@gafcp.org
with the article (in a Microsoft Word format) attached to the e-mail.
- The author's
name, title, organization, address, phone number and e-mail address
should be indicated clearly in the article.
- If submitting
a photo in an electronic format to accompany the article, a JPEG format
is preferred. Please indicate if you have a preferred caption for the
photo.
Publishing
Guidelines/Agreement
Family Connection
Partnership, Inc. has copyright ownership of the Connected e-zine
overall but not the articles contained within. Information may be reproduced
or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic or print, including
e-mailing, photocopying and recording, or by any information storage and
retrieval systems, without prior permission from the publisher.
Family Connection
Partnership, as publisher, reserves the right to edit any submitted article
to ensure that it meets the above editorial criteria. Family Connection
Partnership also reserves the right to refuse publication of any information
that does not meet Family Connection Partnership's editorial guidelines.
- By submitting
articles for publication, contributing authors grant Family Connection
Partnership the right to publish the articles, in whole or in part.
- To the
extent that a contributing author's contribution contains any original
work of other author(s), we understand that contributing authors for
Connected have obtained necessary rights, licenses and permissions to
permit us to publish and to grant third parties the right to reproduce
the information.
- The opinions
expressed in any guest editorials are those of the authors, not of Family
Connection and Family Connection Partnership.
